Splashcast Closes Over-Subscribed Series A Funding and Appoints Advertising Executive to Board

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) March 20, 2008 -- SplashCast?, pioneers of social marketing applications, today announced that it has successfully secured $4M in Series A funding. The over-subscribed investment was led by Mark Bayliss, a senior executive with extensive relationships with the world?s largest advertising and media companies, who also joins the SplashCast board of directors. Additional Series A funding was provided by Emergent, an emerging growth investment fund also with strong ties to advertising and consumer brands.

SplashCasting represents a new form of online marketing called social advertisements ? tools marketers use to reach the growing demographic of social network site users. SplashCast?s social advertisements consistently receive click-through-rates 75 times higher than typical banner advertisements used on MySpace, Facebook, and other social network sites.

?It?s clear that Internet sites such as MySpace and Facebook are the new TVs for today?s young consumers and that SplashCast is far and away the best tool out there for reaching this audience,? said Bayliss. ?The SplashCast tool has become the insider buzz for top brands looking to reach social network users.?

Launched in 2007, SplashCast has quickly gained an impressive roster of clientele including Sony/BMG, Universal Music, MTV, AEG, PBS and others looking to reach today?s youth market. SplashCast applications have already been viewed more than 250 million times, by more than 8.5 million monthly unique users.

"When Facebook launched their developer platform, we started looking for a quick, turn-key strategy in order to establish a major presence on user profiles," said David Bell, Director of Digital Marketing at Zomba Label Group, a division of Sony BMG. "SplashCast made it simple for us. The technology was already developed and easy to incorporate. The features of the SplashCast player make it extremely engaging for the fans of our artists.?

SplashCasts are much like multi-channel TV screens that can be placed on an individual?s social network profile page. Brands and media companies use SplashCast to distribute videos, games, pictures, and other digital content. Consumers who find a SplashCast they like can easily add it to their own profile page. Companies easily update all of their distributed SplashCasts with new video and game content, as often as they want, whenever they want.

?Social networking is all about community and SplashCast makes it possible for brands to be a part of that community,? said Michael Berkley, founder and CEO of SplashCast. ?For the marketer, it?s easy to deploy, easy to update, and easy to measure.?

Not only can the brand or media company deliver content to its target audience, the audience can also upload their own content and deliver it back to the brand or even communicate with other users. This results in SplashCast?s unique ability to create online communities that come together around the brand. Since a SplashCast can be used on any platform, the new marketing tool breaks down the walls that separate users on various sites.
